From Ha Giang, going through forests, terraced fields and hamlets of the Tay, Mong and Dao people, you arrive in Noong Lake that runs around the foot of Noong Mountain. This natural lake has a total area of water surface of over 20ha in dry season and 80ha in rainy season. It is surrounded by mountains and primitive forests of over 700ha.
The lake experiences two seasons, dry and rainy. The special feature of the Noong Lake is in the heart of lake, it has not also lush trees but also the dry trees that create an interesting landscape. In dry season when the water level is low, the locals raise ducks and geese in the lake.
In rainy season, the water of Noong Lake rises high so you can go sightseeing using a dugout around the lake. In this season (April to October), the water level rises, the total area of the lake is about 80ha. This is also an appropriate time to fish.
The locals’ life is very simple. Everyday they catch fish together on the lake and their laughter echo in the area. Here, you seem to be lost in a fairy world. At sunrise, mist and early sunbeams spread over Noong Lake while at sunset the lake is covered by a thin layer of mist.
On dry season, the water was too shallow so the raft that local people used to take people to the lake just turned to be the hut for children to study.
